How to Submit Your Work

We accept submissions periodically throughout the year.
Here's what you need to know if you are interested in working with us.

Before you Submit  to Tales of Cape Fear

Tales of Cape Fear is a local anthology showcasing artists, stories, and settings located in or inspired by the Cape Fear Region. Your work will need to reflect this core principle. Stories that do not reflect our core principle will not be considered.

Pitch

Have a pitch ready for your submission. This is how you get in. If your pitch doesn't excite or intrigue us, we will look for one that does. Your pitch should be NO MORE than 3 sentences and give the editors a clear understanding of what will happen.

Theme

Every issue has a theme. We will post the theme in advance so you have time to think about what you'd like your story to be within that theme.

Setting

As we mentioned, TOCF is a local book, which means we like to see local settings! We don't require every story to be this way, but it should be considered. Make sure to ask yourself, 'How will my reader know this is a Cape Fear story?'

Story Length

Submitted scripts are required to be 2-4 pages in length. Our recurring writers and artists are allowed up to 8 pages, pending approval from editors.

Age

How old or young do you have to be to submit? We're excited to support anyone over the age of 18 for Tales of Cape Fear, but we also have a zine where anyone over the age of 10 can submit!

Artist vs. Writer

Whether you're an artist, a writer, or both, we will find someone to work with you! We pride ourselves on creating great partnerships between writers and artists who have never worked together and helping them build trust and great final stories! Some applicants also write and draw their own work.

Accepted Submissions - What comes next!

You've put in the hard work, you submitted your story, and now you're in! Here's what to expect.

Summary

Now that you've got our interest, we'll want a paragraph or two AT MOST describing what happens from beginning to end. This helps us....
